Hemlock is led by Sam Guo, who has served as its President since 2023. Sam has more than 15 years of investing and capital markets experience and oversees and directs all investment activities for Hemlock, including strategy, research, capital allocation and investment selection.
Sam began his career in investment banking at Morgan Stanley and then worked at Altas Partners in Toronto for ten years, having joined in 2012 as a founding member of the firm. At Altas, Sam was responsible for evaluating, executing and stewarding private equity investments across North America. Sam studied business and economics at Queen’s University and completed dual Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts degrees, graduating first in his BCom class.
